IOSD DirectAid agency as a new way to give and share. Here is how it works:

1. Our task is to identify trustworthy organizations with people "in the field", i.e. missionaries, peace corps workers, local officials, village doctors, clergy, etc.

2. Once registered and screened, these field agents ("DA AGENTS") are invited to send us information on families with have special needs or specific projects that need funding. These needs are entered in a database and you (the "DA DONOR") have access to it.

3. If you find someone (or something) that you would like to help (you can search by country, type of need, religious affiliation, etc), you can do several things:

  1. send your gift (clothes, canned food, even currency) directly to the family
  2. send your gift to the family via the local agent (missionary, NGO worker etc)
  3. send a monetary donation to DirectAid and we will try to use those funds only and specifically for the family or project that you indicated.

4. Every ACTION is recorded so you know who is receiving what and efforts are not duplicated. You can also decide to "adopt" a family or individual for a particular period.

5. We guarantee that the DirectAid program is funded only with 10% of monetary gifts send using method #3. You may also make donations to DirectAid if you wish to support our efforts.

Finally, we know that as an extension of DOED, the DirectAid Agency is a recent initiative. We will work hard to earn your trust and respect. Please contact us directly if you have any questions or comments.

PS: Due credit for the vision behind DirectAid should be given to well-known publisher Robert D. Reed who invented the DirectAid concept back in 1995, at the time not as an extension of IOSD but as a vision for an independent charity.
