Access to basic and higher education is a critical link in the chain of sustainable economic development. It is often a weak link because:
- of the cost of providing higher education
- the difficulty funding access technology and laboratories
- the temptation to study and stay abroad
With this in mind, IOSD has developed an operational programs that delivers world class educational programs to the heart of developing regions, at the fraction of the cost of traditional institutions of higher learning.
Pôle d'Extension Universitaire Euclide / Euclid University Consortium and Extension was established in 2005 by international agreement between the University of Bangui (CAR), the Private International University of Brussels (BE), and IOSD/HBTI (International Organization for Sustainable Development) acting as program administrator. By MOU between IOSD and the Ministry of Education of Chad, the University of N'Djamena also joined the Euclid Consortium in 2006.
Created as an international extension of these institutions and empowered to organize programs under their combined authority, Euclid exists to offer general and specialized education with a multinational and multicultural emphasis.
EUCLID'S MISSION
|
Our mission is to provide a distance learning experience that rivals with the world's best campus-based universities at a very low cost.
Euclid offers what we think is the most varied, most dynamic, most enjoyable approach to distance academic learning.
Our courses database includes almost 2000 classes delivered by various means: lectures on video, DVD, audio cassettes and MP3s, as well as book-based mentor-directed self-studies. |
IOSD has signed several agreements / MOU with partner organizations and States to offer specialized educational programs. A cooperative MOU was signed with the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry in December 2006 and with Eritrea in June 2007. This latter program allows Eritrean officials to receive MDIA, MIT and MSD training through Euclid.
To make these programs, Euclid builds on the products and services offered by the following resources and partners:

The Teaching Company brings engaging professors into your home or car through courses on DVD, audio CD, and other formats. Since 1990, great teachers from the Ivy League, Stanford, Georgetown, and other leading colleges and universities have crafted over 200 courses for lifelong learners. The Teaching Company does not offer post-course grading and credits - but Euclid does.
