The mission of the International Organization for Sustainable Development is to foster the well-being of all human beings by promoting sustainable economic development, inter-cultural dialogue, and facilitating access to world-class higher education, especially in the developing nations of Africa and the Pacific.

IOSD's mission is thus to assist EUCLID, partner governments and international organizations implement programs that directly support sustainable development initiative, especially in the field of education, for their citizens or members.

Since September 2007, this includes a specific Millennium Challenge Support Program.

This task is supported by the work of the IOSD's main agency: Euclid University Consortium (the international extension of the University of N'Djamena, the University of Bangui, in partnership with ULI Brussels and UL Burkina).

Our aim is also to encourage a high level of cooperative reflection on the integration of ecological principles and traditional values in the economic planning and legal framework of developing economies.


In particular, the statutes of IOSD declare:

The mission of the International Organization for Sustainable Development shall be to:

•  Facilitate the creation of cooperative networks and economic development programs involving financial institutions, energy producers, private enterprises, diplomats, universities and governmental bodies;

•  Promote economic development and educational access in developing countries;

•  Broaden the understanding of the field of sustainable economic development and to promote the implementation and dissemination of norms, rules and guidelines that apply to this field;

•  Assist developing countries identify and retain businessmen, professionals and scholars desirous to act as pro-bono economic advisors to their diplomatic and consular network;

•  Continue the work of the International Organization for Sustainable Development and in particular to pursue the ratification of the "Agreement Pertaining to the Statutes and Mission of the International Organization for Sustainable Development" leading to the transition of the organization hereby established to intergovernmental status;

•  Strengthen and support the national capacity to engage in sustainable economic development, educational access policies and bioethical reflection while taking into consideration the traditional social and cultural values of each nation;

In order to accomplish the foregoing objectives, the Organization may engage in the following types of activities:

a.   Develop networks globally in the sphere of economic, educational and bioethical reflection;

b.   Establish and maintain information services;

c.   Provide advice, guidance and support on economic development issues;

d.   Encourage education, research and the dissemination of research findings within the Organization's sphere of competence;

e.   Organize and facilitate conferences, seminars and training dealing with economic development, education access and bioethics;

f.   Engage in other activities related to the missions of the Organization, as the need arises.


IOSD is an affiliated institution of EUCLID (Euclid University). IOSD is not an agency of the United Nations or affiliated with any United Nations agency or program.
